Quick Fire: Adamson Soaring Falcons get huge win versus NU Bulldogs

(Photo Credit: Marie Dobuyan, Tiebreaker Times)

Adamson Soaring Falcons def. NU Bulldogs 83-76

Notable Players:

Jerie Pingoy, Adamson (12 points, 5 assists, 6 steals): Pingoy is starting to find his groove with Adamson, even managing to log more production compared to Robbie Manalang. It took a while. but it's a delight to watch Pingoy play this well after so long.

Papi Sarr, Adamson (19 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals): Papi needs to continue to put up performances like these for Adamson to stay in the mix for the Final Four. He was solid, and he should build off this for upcoming games.

Jerrick Ahanmisi, Adamson (13 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists): HE'S ALIVE!!!!! Just getting to see Jerrick play this well should already be promising for Adamson supporters. It's no explosion by his standards, but he should get there soon.

J-Jay Alejandro, NU (25 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists): This was a great bounce-back performance from him shooting-wise after a sub-par outing last time around. Surely though, he would have wanted the win more than anything else.

Enzo Joson, NU (3 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals): The rookie formerly of the Ateneo Blue Eaglets put up a solid performance, helping provide energy for the Bulldogs. For an NU team filled with scorers, Enzo's hustle on both ends of the floor is a welcome addition.

Quick Analysis:

- This game was an absolute slug fest between the two dark horses, with both teams throwing blow after blow for the entirety of the game. Efficiency on the offensive end was poopy too, with both teams not shooting too well from the floor.

- The offense for the game wasn't completely terrible overall. Both teams weren't efficient, yes, but they were still able to score. Both teams logged  90+ points per 100 possessions, not a bad number by any means.

- What truly made the difference in this game was how NU was how Adamson controlled the pace. NU thrives with a game that has a lot of possessions, while Adamson uses the press to delay offenses forcing teams to then make bad decisions. NU played to Adamson's pace, and it led to their doom.

- Turnovers were also a big factor for this match-up. Jerie Pingoy alone had a whopping six steals, while Adamson had 13 in total. The 22 turnovers of NU led to 24 points of Adamson, spelling the difference in a game where NU actually shot the ball better compared to Adamson.

Troy Mallillin is a Blue Eagle. Now what?

(Photo Credit: Janine Torre, The GUIDON) Against the JRU Heavy Bombers, Troy Mallillin finally made his much awaited debut as a Blue Eagle. Just seeing him in uniform was already enough for fans of the Blue Eagles to go wild. Seeing a NCAA Juniors MVP wear an Ateneo jersey feels weird, for any fan. Seeing a former La Salle Greenhills player wear the blue and white? It's like an Ateneo High School boy wearing a La Salle jersey. Oh.. wait... Obviously, any Atenean is brimming with excitement right now after managing to secure (or is it really secure?) the services of the former NCAA Juniors MVP. But what else are the other implications of Troy Mallillin taking his talents to Katipunan? Let's break it down: In the short term Right now, don't expect Troy to get a lot of minutes. As mentioned before , Ateneo is filled with a number of forwards in Mike Nieto, Vince Tolentino and Raffy Verano. Shaun Ildefonso is no longer in that fray of forwards after taking his talen...

At first glance, it means that you're a player who's more than ready to make it to the big leagues. You're not just expected to do well in the collegiate level.
