Honestly, who expected Talk 'N Text to get blown out by this big of a margin?

  Anyone?

The rivalry between these two teams is dubbed as "Bad Blood" and for good reason. After all, they treated us to arguably one of the greatest 7 game series' in history. Personally, it's the greatest series of all time for me, even though Petron wound up losing that.

Now, what exactly were people's expectations coming into this game?
Well, of course people expected a tightly contested match between the two squads. After all, Petron has one of the deepest squads in the Philippines right now, while Talk 'N Text's depth isn't something to laugh about either.

The match - ups in this game were bound to create epic story lines. "Hero Ball" Alex Cabagnot vs. FIBA Asia Hero Jayson Castro. Two top tier forwards in Arwind Santos vs. Ranidel De Ocanmpo. Two young, quality big men in Junemar Fajardo vs. Rabeh Al Hussaini. Two of the best imports in the league today in Elijah Millsap and Tony Mitchell. Then, you have two enforcers in Doug Kramer and Ali Peek. Kramer vs. Peek. Wrestlemania worthy.

In short, the hype surrounding this game was tremendous. People were expecting a close game. A blowout would be considered a disappointment, or a shock.

Well, that's pretty much what we got.

Honestly, you can't really analyze why Petron won with THAT BIG of a margin. Stats don't really matter at this point, because the statement "Defense wins championships" pretty much summed up the reason why Petron won this match  - up. They played AMAZING defense on the Tropang Texters, and no one just couldn't get it going. Because of their stingy defense, this translated to a better flowing offense for them.

Despite that though, I'll still give some points to take note of from this game.
  • Junemar Fajardo is improving.. yet he still looks raw. If I were the other teams, I would fear for my life. That FIBA Asia stint has done wonders for "The Kraken", yet, he still looks raw. He can definitely still improve. I'll definitely credit him for improving his agility, there was this one instance he was defending Ali Peek in the perimeter as if he was Kirk Long on Bobby Ray Parks. Despite that though, he still has to improve on his agility even more, plus, he needs more confidence with his shot. Other than that though.. well.. I don't know to be honest. I just feel so darned bad for the other PBA teams because Junemar well.. he's just going to get better. WAY BETTER.

The Kraken is getting better yet, he can improve more. Scary.

  • Rabeh Al Hussaini is slowly getting his confidence back. As a long time Rabeh supporter, I'm really happy with this. I always had a feeling that Coach Norman Black would be the solution for Rabeh's long time struggles. He has more confidence with his offense now, and he's actually playing decent defense. Those post moves are showing again, and he was doing it against two of the top big men in the league in Junemar Fajardo and Doug Kramer. I really hope Rabeh keeps it up because once he reaches his full potential, I would fear for my life if I were the other PBA teams.

Rabeh is primed to take Ali Peek's spot
as the next great big man for the Tropang Texters.

  • Elijah Millsap is sneaking into that Best Import Award. The impact that Elijah Millsap has brought into this Petron team is amazing. He's injected so much energy into this team, despite his status as in import. His stats aren't exactly eye popping just like Mike Singletary's, but he doesn't need to put up stats like that. He's doing his role for the team, they're dominating, and that's all that matters.

Millsap thoroughly outplayed Tony Mitchell in this one.

  • Doug Kramer vs. Ali Peek would be an epic wrestling match. Let's just say that when they started to lock horns during the waning moments of the game, I nearly spit out the water I was drinking. THAT. WAS. SCARY.

Bicep vs. Bicep. Pwede?

The effects of Goldwin Monteverde's reported resignation from Adamson

On the afternoon of April 11, 2017, SPIN.ph reported that coach Goldwin Monteverde has resigned from his position as head coach of the Adamson Baby Falcons. Rumors of coach Goldwin's resignation has been going around High School basketball circles, so the news of the resignation didn't come as that much of a surprise for insiders. (Photo Credit: Hazel Siy) But for fans, the move came as quite the surprise. After all, the Baby Falcons were still projected to contend for a championship despite the controversial end that they had to their Season 79 campaign. They weren't losing that much key players to graduation, and the desire for redemption was the most important part in all of this. The fact of the matter is, Goldwin Monteverde could very well be going out of the Adamson basketball program. This move creates then a number of effects not just for the San Marcelino-based school, but also the rest of High School basketball.  1. The effect it has on the Adamson Ju

Troy Mallillin is a Blue Eagle. Now what?

(Photo Credit: Janine Torre, The GUIDON) Against the JRU Heavy Bombers, Troy Mallillin finally made his much awaited debut as a Blue Eagle. Just seeing him in uniform was already enough for fans of the Blue Eagles to go wild. Seeing a NCAA Juniors MVP wear an Ateneo jersey feels weird, for any fan. Seeing a former La Salle Greenhills player wear the blue and white? It's like an Ateneo High School boy wearing a La Salle jersey. Oh.. wait... Obviously, any Atenean is brimming with excitement right now after managing to secure (or is it really secure?) the services of the former NCAA Juniors MVP. But what else are the other implications of Troy Mallillin taking his talents to Katipunan? Let's break it down: In the short term Right now, don't expect Troy to get a lot of minutes. As mentioned before , Ateneo is filled with a number of forwards in Mike Nieto, Vince Tolentino and Raffy Verano. Shaun Ildefonso is no longer in that fray of forwards after taking his talen
