Updates Along The Sidewalk: May 11, 2013

Alright guys, it's been 6 days ever since I've posted so here we go, some updates to why it's been 6 days ever since I have posted and other activity around the website.

     First of all...

    The lack of posts
Now, you guys must be wondering, where are the posts? Why the sudden lack of posts? Have I lost my passion for writing?

Not really. Well, first, I kind of had a personal problem this past week that's why I wasn't in the mood to write too much about basketball. I was about to start an article about Derrick Rose but I guess that won't push through.

Second, I got the flu because of various stress. I had a hard time moving, so obviously it would be even more difficult for me to create a blog post. Sorry guys!

PBA and NBA Player Of The Week
I told you guys I'd be making a post explaining the criteria of the PBA and NBA POW's. Well, the reason why I wasn't able was because of my reasons above. I probably won't push through writing the criteria, but I will still push through with my POW's. :)

    New update around the site
Well, only one update, and that's the Twitter feed at the right. You can follow me as well on Twitter, @MathManMaster!

The effects of Goldwin Monteverde's reported resignation from Adamson

On the afternoon of April 11, 2017, SPIN.ph reported that coach Goldwin Monteverde has resigned from his position as head coach of the Adamson Baby Falcons. Rumors of coach Goldwin's resignation has been going around High School basketball circles, so the news of the resignation didn't come as that much of a surprise for insiders. (Photo Credit: Hazel Siy) But for fans, the move came as quite the surprise. After all, the Baby Falcons were still projected to contend for a championship despite the controversial end that they had to their Season 79 campaign. They weren't losing that much key players to graduation, and the desire for redemption was the most important part in all of this. The fact of the matter is, Goldwin Monteverde could very well be going out of the Adamson basketball program. This move creates then a number of effects not just for the San Marcelino-based school, but also the rest of High School basketball.  1. The effect it has on the Adamson Ju...

Adrian Wong and his road back home

Making it to the big leagues, appearing on National Television and playing for a nationally acclaimed team is a dream for any basketball player here in the Philippines. Ask any kid in the street playing on any kind of court what they dream about when it comes to basketball, chances are they’ll answer you, “ Gusto ko po maglaro sa PBA.” The sad reality is that, not everyone is given the opportunity to be able to play in these leagues. Some kids can try, but chances are they won’t make it. The ones who are given attention are either Fil-Foreigners who performed admirably in the respective schools that they played for, players who have shown their wares in the local leagues in the country or players who stand at 6’5” and above and are immediately given the “This kid should play for Batang Gilas” tag much like other fancied vertically blessed Pinoys. Adrian Wong doesn’t fit in any of those categories. He played in the States, but he wasn’t highly sought after. He didn’t pl...

Thoughts about Ateneo's 0 - 3 Start, and a plea to Ateneans

I won't be posting the recaps for the past three game dates because of personal problems, but I feel like I really have to write regarding this issue, not only because I am an Atenean, but also because I am a spectator of Philippine Basketball.    I've been watching the UAAP for almost 11 years now. If you do the Math, that's around 2002, the same year Ateneo won a UAAP championship. I remember the very first Ateneo jersey that I got; it was a Rich Alvarez jersey, and until now, it still fits me quite well. My very first Ateneo jersey. Rich Alvarez. (photo courtesy of writer)
