Adamson Soaring Falcons def. UE Red Warriors 66-57
Notable Players:
Jerrick Ahanmisi, Adamson (14 points, 3 assists, 2 steals): Ahanmisi took full advantage of UE clamping down on Sarr all game long, moving really well without the ball for multiple spot-ups. He scored as much shots as he took, but an aggressive Ahanmisi is always a good thing for Adamson.
Papi Sarr, Adamson (12 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists): It may seem like Sarr was limited by UE if you just look at the number of shots he took, but the sheer presence he had down low was enough to make life easier for his teammates.
Alvin Pasaol, UE (22 points, 12 rebounds, 2 steals): He took 26 shots, but it's goddamn justified. No one in UE wanted to score, so Pasaol went ahead and tried to carry his team. You tried, big boy.
Quick Analysis:
- This was a completely winnable game for UE. Adamson's offense was bad for the most part (forced a ton of jumpers instead of pounding it down low), while the Soaring Falcons had trouble taking care of the ball as well (23 turnovers). Sadly, if only one dude is doing work offensively, you just aren't going to win against a talented team like Adamson.
- To dig deeper into UE's scoring woes, they actually got good attempts. A number of players had free drives to the rim, and their work on offensive boards was laudable. UE relies a lot on effort. They deserve a ton of credit for that. But if you can't finish after getting the rebound, and it goes on repeatedly, you're not getting anywhere.
- On that note, Adamson should have gotten this win so good for them! Makes their Final Four dreams more secure for the time being. They weren't able to pound it to the rim as much as possible, but their performance was just enough to get them the win.
- However, Adamson has to work on balancing their talent in the perimeter with the monster they have down low. During the early goings of the game, Sarr had an altercation with Jonathan Espeleta with Sarr clearly telling his team to get him the ball once he gets the seal down low. Papi has a point. It's not like he's a terrible passer as well. Adamson can hit that three-ball, that's for sure. But some balance would be nice.
