Final Score: AdU Falcons def. UE Red Warriors 79-60

Notable Players:

Papi Sarr, AdU (15 points, 16 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals): Despite having a subpar FG% (5/15, 33%) Papi Sarr dominated the paint as UE had no decent matchup to stop Papi inside

Sean Manganti, AdU (10 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 blocks): Manganti contributed on both ends of the floor, providing scoring and the defensive side as well. This was his best outing for the season.

Mark Olayon, UE (16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals): Olayon has emerged as one of UE’s consistent contributors this season. Had an all around effort in this game with great efficiency (7/11 FGs) from the field and no turnovers.

Alvin Pasaol, UE (15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks): Pasaol, though he produced the numbers expected from him, was still struggling and inefficient from the field by only converting 5 out of 19 attempts with 3 turnovers.

Quick Analysis:

- Adamson started the game hot. They quickly got to an 11-0 run and never looked back.  UE first scored on the board at around the 5-minute mark and ended the quarter 23-11. Adamson’s biggest lead was 19, there were 0 UE leads, 0 deadlocks. UE didn’t have an answer from the start.

- Adamson’s defense contained UE to a low scoring game and only 60 points. UE only shot 31% (20/63) from the field and (11/32) of those were layups and inside the restricted area. This could be given credit to the lengthy defense of Papi Sarr and Sean Manganti.

- All season long, we have been saying that if UE wants to win games, they should always get significant production from their main players. It’s a huge factor in the game as Adamson’s starters had points, while UE had 21 starter points. What’s worse is 15 out of those 21 came from Pasaol. In fact, 4 bench players have higher scores than the other 4 starters who only had 2 a piece and the other had none.

- Adamson also showed their capability to share the ball during this game. Adamson had  22 assists while UE only had 12 assists. Though Adamson had 1 more turnover than the UE’s 18 turnovers, Adamson managed to capitalize and scored 15 Pts off turnovers, while UE only had 7. What’s good in here is the team’s assist to turnover ratio where the team had more assists than turnovers. It’s quite rare in the collegiate level these days, as the usual theme of the games is pace, speed, and defensive pressure. It’s also good to take note that 7 AdU players had 2 assists or more in this game compared to UE’s 3.

Open Letter To The San Miguel Beermen

NOTE: This article isn't exactly in a form of a letter. The look of frustration beckons. (credits to Interaksyon.com)             To be honest, I have never been a die hard San Miguel Beermen fan until the season of their Governors’ Cup championship against the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters. Sure, they were my very first favorite PBA team, but the only reason for that was because Olsen Racela’s son was a friend and a batch mate. Despite that though, SMB has been my top favorite team. I may root for Alaska, RoS and at times Air 21, but the San Miguel Beermen will always be my top team.             The very first time that the Beermen broke my heart was when they lost an epic 7 game series against the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters in the 2012 Philippine Cup, back when they were still called the Petron Blaze Boosters. Despite that, I still continued to root for the team. Yet, heart break stil came. And another. And another. Then Renaldo Balkman chokes away Petron’s champion
