De La Salle Green Archers def. UE Red Warriors 99-78

Notable Players:

Santi Santillian, La Salle (14 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks): You can't blame people for giving the Troy Rosario comparison to Santi, it's warranted. He's not as fluid, but his nose for the ball and physical tools scream sure-fire PBA prospect.

Justine Baltazar, La Salle (13 points, 6/6 FG): Baltazar there is potential in him becoming more than a big man with the movement he displayed off the ball to get open jumpers. He's long, fairly athletic and his skills are starting to catch-up.

Alvin Pasaol, UE (23 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals): Seriously, he managed to score 23 even though Ben was draped all over him. He doesn't just chuck up shots. He takes his time, and waits for the shot to get to him. He had to work for it, but he still managed to score. Major props.

Mark Olayon, UE (18 points, 7 assists): Olayon looks to be a lowkey pro prospect PBA teams should look at. He has point forward all over him, showing a ton of versatility on both ends of the floor.

Quick Analysis:

- La Salle was on cruise control for most of the game, just establishing their might down low against the Red Warriors. That's the scary thing with La Salle: They may not run their sets perfectly every time, but they have the size and talent to cover their mistakes.

- Ben's three-point shot was projected to be a staple of La Salle's offense, but instead, it's more of a emergency button for them now. They've focused on using Ben in the post, since there really isn't anyone in the league who can stop him from there. 3 > 2, but you'd rather take an open shot in the paint rather than an open three right?

- UE continues to fight, and as a basketball fan, you love to watch that kind of effort. They may not be the most talented, but how they fight for loose balls and try to throw their bodies against the monsters of La Salle deserves some props.

- The referees did a terrible job of controlling the game in the fourth quarter, right when the game was already decided. Both sides deserved better officiating.

Rumors of coach Goldwin's resignation has been going around High School basketball circles, so the news of the resignation didn't come as that much of a surprise for insiders. (Photo Credit: Hazel Siy) But for fans, the move came as quite the surprise. After all, the Baby Falcons were still projected to contend for a championship despite the controversial end that they had to their Season 79 campaign. They weren't losing that much key players to graduation, and the desire for redemption was the most important part in all of this. The fact of the matter is, Goldwin Monteverde could very well be going out of the Adamson basketball program. This move creates then a number of effects not just for the San Marcelino-based school, but also the rest of High School basketball.  1. The effect it has on the Adamson Ju

Open Letter To The San Miguel Beermen

NOTE: This article isn't exactly in a form of a letter. The look of frustration beckons. (credits to Interaksyon.com)             To be honest, I have never been a die hard San Miguel Beermen fan until the season of their Governors’ Cup championship against the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters. Sure, they were my very first favorite PBA team, but the only reason for that was because Olsen Racela’s son was a friend and a batch mate. Despite that though, SMB has been my top favorite team. I may root for Alaska, RoS and at times Air 21, but the San Miguel Beermen will always be my top team.             The very first time that the Beermen broke my heart was when they lost an epic 7 game series against the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters in the 2012 Philippine Cup, back when they were still called the Petron Blaze Boosters. Despite that, I still continued to root for the team. Yet, heart break stil came. And another. And another. Then Renaldo Balkman chokes away Petron’s champion
